GetJobTools gives job seekers and students free tools for every step of a job search: a resume builder with PDF and Word downloads and no watermark, an ATS resume checker, cover letter and letter writers, and salary and notice-period calculators. We also list open jobs and upcoming career fairs across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, each linked to its original source.
The role
You will build and maintain the site itself: a Laravel 13 app on PHP 8.3 with Blade, Alpine and Tailwind on the front, MariaDB behind it and Pest for tests. You will ship small, tested changes most days: new tools and calculators, fixes to the jobs and events importers, admin screens, and the SEO and performance work that keeps pages fast on phones. You will review your own work in the browser at phone and desktop sizes, write tests for what you change, and leave clear notes in commits and comments. You will work directly with the founder and own features end to end, from the first sketch to the deploy.
What we're looking for
- Three or more years with PHP and Laravel in production, and comfort with Blade, Eloquent and queues.
- Front-end care: clean HTML, Tailwind, Alpine and a feel for layout on small screens.
- Tests as a habit, with Pest or PHPUnit.
- Plain written English for commit messages, comments and short specs.
- A plus, not required: experience with search engine optimization, structured data or AdSense sites.
