About GetJobTools
GetJobTools gives job seekers and students free tools for every step of a job search: a resume builder with PDF and Word downloads and no watermark, an ATS resume checker, cover letter and letter writers, and salary and notice-period calculators. We also list open jobs and upcoming career fairs across the US, UK, Canada and Australia, each linked to its original source.
The role
You will write and update the guides on our blog: resumes and applicant tracking systems, cover letters, interviews, job offers and notice periods, and college essays. Each guide answers a real search query in plain English, cites the official page behind every fact, and ends at the free tool that does the job. You will work from a short brief with the search queries and sources, draft in Markdown, run our checks for length and wording, and revise guides that Google crawled but did not index. You will also write the short texts around the site: tool intros, empty states and help answers.
What we're looking for
- Clear, plain US English and the patience to find the primary source for a claim.
- Two or more years writing how-to or explanatory content, with samples we can read.
- Comfort with Markdown, word limits and an editor's notes.
- Knowledge of job searching, hiring or career services, from either side of the table.
- A plus, not required: experience writing for search, or with ATS and resume tools.
