Event DescriptionThe GW community in Chicago is invited to join us for a reception and discussion with Elliott School Dean Alyssa Ayres. Our alumni panelists will discuss their varied careers in international affairs.

Registration for the event is $15 for alumni‚ parents‚ and guests‚ and includes hors d’oeuvres‚ beer‚ wine‚ and soft drinks. Students are free.

SpeakersMarty Mannion‚ ESIA BA ’97‚ is Co-Head of TD Securities Automated Trading LLC (TDSAT)‚ the quantitative fixed income division of TD Securities. TDSAT is a market leader in municipal and corporate bonds. Mr. Mannion was previously co-CEO of Headlands Tech Global Markets‚ LLC (HTGM)‚ where he helped build the firm’s fixed income trading business. TD Bank acquired HTGM in July 2021. Prior to joining Headlands‚ Mr. Mannion was Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Citadel Execution Services‚ the U.S. equity and options market making division of Citadel Securities. Mr. Mannion joined Citadel in 2004‚ and during his 8+ year tenure helped to build the division into one of the leading liquidity and execution providers in U.S. listed equities and equity options. Prior to joining Citadel in 2004‚ Mr. Mannion spent 4 years at the NASDAQ and 2 years at Economists‚ Inc. Mr. Mannion has served on several boards‚ including: DirectEdge Holdings‚ an electronic trading system for U.S.-listed equities; EASDAQ‚ which owned and operated Equiduct Systems Ltd.‚ an electronic exchange for European equities; and NYSE Amex‚ the NYSE-operated U.S. listed equity options exchange.

Andrew Morris ESIA BA ’08‚ is a Managing Director at Blue Owl Capital and oversees the Legal Team for Blue Owl’s Real Assets platform. At Blue Owl Capital he helps lead legal strategy and execution for the firm’s digital infrastructure business‚ with a focus on client needs and long-term platform growth. Before joining Blue Owl‚ Andrew was Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at First Eagle Alternative Credit in Chicago. Prior to that‚ he was an Associate with Kirkland & Ellis LLP providing legal and regulatory advice to private fund sponsors. Andrew previously worked as an Associate with Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP providing advice with respect to fund formation and capital markets offerings. His work spans complex regulatory matters‚ cross‑border transactions‚ and the development of scalable legal frameworks for emerging asset classes. Andrew received his JD‚ cum laude‚ from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and holds a BA in International Affairs‚ magna cum laude‚ from The George Washington University.

Appointed in February 2021‚ Alyssa Ayres is the first woman to serve as permanent dean at the Elliott School. She is a foreign policy practitioner and award-winning author with senior experience in the government‚ nonprofit‚ and private sectors. From 2013 to 2021‚ she was a senior fellow for India‚ Pakistan‚ and South Asia at the Council on Foreign Relations‚ where she remains an adjunct senior fellow‚ and from 2010 to 2013 served as deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia. Her work focuses primarily on India’s role in the world and on U.S. relations with South Asia in the larger Indo-Pacific. Ayres received an AB from Harvard College and an MA and PhD from the University of Chicago. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations‚ the Trilateral Commission‚ the Halifax International Security Forum’s agenda group‚ and serves on the board of directors of the National Endowment for Democracy and the Women’s Foreign Policy Group. In 2021 and 2022‚ the Washingtonian included her as one of their “most influential people shaping policy.”
