Hussein Baxter is a senior M&A lawyer at Sidley Austin and member of its Middle East practice. He advises on major cross-border M&A, private equity and strategic transactions across the Middle East and internationally, working with sovereign wealth funds, financial sponsors and multinational companies.

Hussein trained and qualified as a lawyer in London, where he practised with some of the world’s leading international law firms before moving to the UAE and developing a career at the intersection of international business, law and the Middle East.

Alongside his legal practice, Hussein is a doctoral researcher in London examining legal change in the Gulf, including the development of financial free zones and the role of legal institutions in attracting international capital. He also teaches and speaks on M&A, international business and the Middle East at universities and business schools internationally.
